Infield Drill

New In-Motion animated QuickTime version now available for WebBall Team Players. Please sign in or join.

This is a fun approach to throwing the ball around the horn that adds a couple of twists, and more infielder movement.

RED lines are direction of ball throws or simulated hits.

BLUE lines are direction of player movement.

Set Up

This drills works best with 6 players. If you have more, then get the rest of the team working in the bullpen or on outfield work.

Start with a player at each infield position plus catcher, with the 6th (spare) play ready to replace the catcher.

Throws and relays go from Catcher to Third, to Second, Short, First and Home.

The wrinkle is how players start moving after the first relay reaches the second baseman. The delay is why it's called "mad tag".
