Infield Drill for pitchers & catchers

New In-Motion animated QuickTime version now available for WebBall Team Players. Please sign in or join.
An essential drill sequence for every pitching-catching battery - including all players who may catch and all pitchers - even those you might only call on occasionally. Will get your pitchers thinking defense while they do mound work. And will get your catchers working their pick-off throws too.

RED lines are direction of ball throws or simulated hits.

BLACK lines are added catcher defensive throws.

Set-Up

  • Pitchers work the mound, 1st and 3rd.
  • Catchers are based at home and 2nd.
  • Pitchers are rotated, as are catchers.
Easiest rotation - pitcher from the mound who has come over to cover first stays there. Pitcher from first goes to 3rd, from 3rd goes to mound.)

After each pitcher has worked up to 30 hard pitches - end of second rotation - all battery combinations have worked together.
